Beautiful Belitung

This would be my little something I brought from my trip to Belitung islands in June 2010, yup, haven't had time to write about it, i have posted several photo album in facebook though,,,hehe,,hmmm i don't really structured when it comes to blog writing, so i just gonna share based on whatever come across my mind

- Belitung island is heaven for those into photography especially landscape, the view is very beautiful, it a place where the sky is blue, the water is crystal clear, the sands are white and soft, and the rocks was massive, real massive!!

I still can't believe I thousand miles to Phi Phi Island to see 2 giant rocks in Maya beach (that Leonardo the Beach movie set) while in Belitung, especially Pantai Tanjung Tinggi they have hundreds of giant granite rocks which are so massive!! FYI, the location was the set for Laskar Pelangi movie.

- While Pantai Tanjung Tinggi is famous for the massive granite rocks, other must visit is Pulau Lengkuas, it has the most beautiful scenery, I used my standard pocket camera and the result is so amazing, it is awed all those who seen it. In this island you can climb 17-stories light house where you can see another breath-taking scenery of Pulau Lengkuas from up there.

- One important to be noted is, Islands and beaches in Belitung are praised for the beauty of the scenery, but if you're looking for a place to do water sports such as snorkeling, diving, etc, etc, tis might be not a right place for you. Well, God is fair, isn't He?

- I went to Belitung with a tour even though it's never been my favorite to travel without do the traveling plan before, and you have to spend more. This tour price is IDR 1,850,000 which already includes everything except two times of meal which cost about IDR 30k. Flight ticket, airport tax, accommodation, all transport while we're there (buses and boat), the tour, and 6 meals. I think its pretty reasonable for 3D2N, and it is. One thing that I noted is, since its tour so we're forced to go wherever the itinerary suggests no matter whether the place is good or worth to visit. Day 1 of this tour is to visit an old Klenteng, some beaches, and the school set for Laskar Pelangi movie (SD Muhammadiyah Gantong). The location of those places are far in East Belitung (1.5-2 hrs of driving), and the beaches are just so so (i meant to be polite here), the Klenteng, well, I've seen better Klenteng here in Jakarta such as Petak 9, and the movie set turned out to be a replica of a movie set. So, the moral of the story is, if you ever plan to go to Belitung, don't even bother to go to this places, they're far and not that worth it. Go straight to the north where beautiful islands and beaches await you.
